President’s Message

Welcome friends! Here’s a quick look at Soroptimist International of Chico, the largest and most dynamic club in our Sierra-Nevada Region.

We are proud of our long and varied heritage! Chartered in 1930, Soroptimist International of Chico has changed and grown over the years in keeping up with current trends. We are always finding new and exciting ways to help the women and children of our community and globally. With grants, scholarships, awards and donations, as well as “hands-on” projects, our members work tirelessly to help improve the lives of women and children.

Why is this an unusual club? We have members from all different professions and backgrounds, yet we’re here for one common goal. We know we are making a difference. We strive to excel in the innovative programs we sponsor locally,  as well as through the larger international organization. I am proud to say that Soroptimist International is one of the largest, non-voting members of the United Nations! Our focus there, as in everything we do, is on women and children worldwide.

We are the people who make our famous SI Chico Home Garden and Antique Show happen!  It’s the largest of its kind in Chico, and the only one in the North State completely run by volunteers for non-profit purposes. The money we earn at the Show funds all of our service projects, awards and scholarships. Because our show is run by volunteers, it’s unique and changes from year to year. So don’t forget to mark your calendar for the third weekend in March!

Do Soroptimists ever have fun? Of course we do! And with clubs in over 100 countries around the world, we have friends and warm welcomes almost anywhere a person might wish to travel.

So why not join us for lunch one day and see for yourself why being Chico Soroptimist is an enjoyable, rewarding experience. Building friendships and working together, Soroptimists do make a difference! From September through June, we meet every Wednesday at 12:00pm at the Chico Elks Lodge. If you are interested in learning more about SI Chico and its dynamic women, please join us for lunch.

See you soon.
