Seeds of Learning -
Sewing Project, Nicaragua in Dario, Nicaragua

Since 1990, Soroptimist International of Chico has supported the Seeds of Learning Center in Nicaragua through financial and equipment donations. The Learning Center teaches students (women and girls) sewing skills so they can work in a factory or make garments for themselves and their families.

Some of our accomplishments:

  • In 2003 – 2008 – $1,000 to improve classroom and demonstration facilities
  • In 2003 – 2009 – Over $2,000 for student and teacher scholarships
  • In 2009 – $1,500 for materials
  • In 2009 – $2,600 to purchase sewing machines
