photo 2Q. Do I need to be a business owner to join?
A. No. It is not necessary to be a business owner.

Q. Is this primarily a networking organization?
A. No. However, many of our members have established long lasting business relationships.

Q. Who can join SI Chico?

A. Individuals from the community who support SIA's mission.

Q. What are the costs for membership?

A. The initial cost to join is $195. Afterwards, our annual membership fee is $150.

Q.When I attend a lunch meeting, how much does it cost?

A. You have the option of either paying $15 for the meal or a $5.00 facility fee and no meal when you attend a meeting.

Q. What if I can’t always make it to the Wednesday lunch. Is that ok?

A. Yes. While we highly encourage our members to attend, there is no minimum attendance requirement or penalty, if you do not come.

Q. I am new to town. Are there ways I can get to know other members if I join?
A. Yes. Please come join us in any or all of our Soroptimist activities such as: our annual Retreat where we spend a weekend getting away to set SI Chico goals, plan and play; our monthly casual get-togethers where we get to know each other better; end of summer picnic and our “Getting to Know You”! These are only a few the many activities, in which, you may choose to participate.

There are also opportunities for you to join a group and/or participate as a volunteer in one of the many organizations we support.

Q. Do you meet all year long?

A. No. We “go dark” (do not meet) during the months of June and July. We also take Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years week off.

Q. When and where are the SI Chico meetings held?

A. Meetings are held every Wednesday from noon-1:15p.m. at the Elks Lodge - 1705 Manzanita Ave, Chico, CA 95926

Q. Do I need to make a lunch reservation to attend?
A. No. Reservations are not required. You may join us for lunch.

Q. How do I pay for lunch? Cash, check, credit card? Who do I make the check out to?
A. On each table, you will find a large envelope on which you will write your name and insert your cash or check for the amount due: $15 meal or $5 (facility fee) no meal. Checks are made out to SI Chico.

Q. When I arrive at the Elks Lodge for a meeting, what do I do?

A. You will park, enter the building and look for the Soroptimist International of Chico banner which is placed right outside the meeting room.

Q. What do I do if I don’t know anyone?
A. Come in! Introduce yourself. And, if you are shy, find a seat at any table and say “Hi, I’m new here”. Prepare to be welcomed! Once the meeting begins, our President will ask if there are any guests. Please raise your hand! Let us know you are just checking us out. We want to get to know you!

Q. Can I bring a friend to a meeting?
A. Yes, friends are always welcomed to join us.

Q. Once I join, do I get to choose the committee that I want to serve on?
A. You will be asked to give your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of committees. First choice is not guaranteed. It depends on where you are needed. And, you may change committees if it doesn’t work for you.
